Obituary of Sol Sandler

Sol Sandler Ellenville, NY April 13, 1928 - January 4, 2015 Sol Sandler, age 86, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 after a brief illness.  He was born in Jamaica, Queens, grew up in Brooklyn, and lived in South Fallsburg then Ellenville since 1957. Sol was an entrepreneur par excellence, owning and operating many businesses over his career including the Summit Hotel in South Fallsburg, several concessions at the Nevele Country Club, the Middletown Motel, and the Best Western Inn and Conference Center in Poughkeepsie. He will be fondly remembered for his compassion for people, incredible knack for business and his uncompromised love for his family.  He also had an unsurpassed concern and love for his village and the people of Ellenville as well as the Catskill Mountains in general. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of 65 years, his daughters Rhonda and Elyse, sons-in-law Jack and Erez, grandchildren Scott and wife Cara, Maren and husband Scott, Adam and Jonathan, great-grandchildren Andrew, Ariella, Javin and Brooke. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 6, 2015 at 12:00PM at The Shadowland Theatre, 157 Canal Street, Ellenville, NY 12428. Burial will follow at the Ezrath Israel Cemetery in Wawarsing. Memorial contributions can be made to either the Ellenville Regional Hospital, 10 Healthy Way, Ellenville, NY 12428, or the Ellenville First Aid and Rescue Squad, 1 Webster Street, Ellenville, NY 12428, who were both so kind and helpful during his illness.
