Obituary of Irma Harriet Babkes Krieger

Irma Babkes Krieger passed away on March 25, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Irma was the daughter of the late Robert Babkes and Dorothy (Bernstein) Babkes. She was married to Morris Krieger who predeceased her on September 28, 2007. They were married for 62 years. Irma was the co-owner of Robert's Shoe Store and was affectionately known as "Mrs. Roberts". She loved getting together with friends for cards and bingo and also loved antiques and auctions. Irma cherished her family more than anything and will be remembered for her generosity to all. She always thought of others before herself. She remembered fondly her days as a volunteer Grey Lady at Horton Hospital and a Grand Jury Member. Irma is survived by her twin daughters, Janet Krieger Smalls and Linda Krieger Dahn and her companion, David Cleveland; ex son-in-law, Stewart Dahn; grandchildren: Margo Smalls and her companion, Mike Yavaniski, Daniel Smalls and his companion, Wendy Houseworth, Rebecca Dahn Kelly and husband, Jim; great-grandchild, Wylie Smalls; sister-in-law, Doris Babkes and many nieces and nephews and friend of 85 plus years, Celia Purrazella. She was predeceased by brother, Herbert Babkes and son-in-law, Richard Smalls. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 27th at Temple Shalom Cemetery, South Woods Drive, Monticello NY. The family would like to thank Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County for their care, Crystal Run Healthcare and especially her Home Care Aide, Sara Reese who she considered her third daughter.
