Obituary of Lila S. Hillman

Lilia Hillman, a resident of Tampa, Florida and former resident of Sullivan County, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2016 at her home in Tampa, surrounded by her loving family. She was 96 years old. The daughter of the late Louis and Tillie (Fish) Shapiro, Lila was born on February 27, 1920 in Monticello. Lila graduated with a Associate of Arts degree from Orange County Community College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY New Paltz. During her lifetime she worked as a legal secretary, a secretary and then English teacher for the Fallsburg Central School District, and then owned and operated the Hillman Insurance Agency. Lila is survived by her daughter Karen Kinsbruner, sons:Dr. Thomas Hillman, and his wife Dr. Nosrat Hillman, and Samuel Hillman and his wife Joy. 6 Grandchildren: Jennifer Kinsbruner Bush (Dr. Jeffrey Bush), Dr. Joseph Hillman (Mona Dousti), Aaron Hillman (Meredith Hogan), Mieca Kinsbruner Levy (Joshua Levy), Joshua Hillman and Jacob Hillman. Lila is further survived by 4 great grandchildren: Emma and Kinsey Bush, Jaeya and Ella Levy, as well as her dear friend, Harold Gold. 
 Lila is pre-deceased by her beloved husband Joseph Hillman, brother Harold Shapiro, Sister Marion Sakofsky, and son-in-law Jay Kinsbruner. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 2:00PM at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701 with Rabbi Yakov Barros officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at the Congregation Anshei Hurleyville Synagogue Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Hurleyville, NY. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Joseph N.
