Obituary of Renee Muriel Goldberg Dickman

Renee Goldberg Dickman passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Renee was born May 3, 1928 to Samuel S. and Anna Leipuner Goldberg in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up alongside her older brother, Joseph in Long Beach, NY. She came to the Catskills in 1948 and worked at the Sunrise Manor day camp in Ulster Heights where she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Earl Dickman. They were married on March 11, 1950 and have been happily married for the past 66 years. They raised their 3 children in Ellenville. Renee was a very active part of the Ellenville Community. In the 1950’s, she was a Pink Lady at Ellenville Hospital. She was one of the founders of the Ellenville Branch of Family of Woodstock in 1975 and was an active member for the next 40 plus years. She was a member of the Ellenville School Board from 1981-1994 and Noonday Club Citizen of the year in 1985. She attended Empire State College and received her Associates Degree in 1990, going on to complete her Bachelors of Science degree in 1993. In 1998 she received her Masters of Social Work at age 70 from Florida International University. She worked at Senior Solutions of South Florida and Jewish Community Services from 1999-2010. She was a very passionate, dedicated woman who loved helping others. She loved traveling and spending time with friends. Her family meant the world to her. Being with her family for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, holiday dinners, vacations, and all of her celebrations of life is documented in her many pictures and slides. She always saw life through “Rose Colored Glasses” always optimistic with a positive outlook on life! She will be missed by her many friends and, most importantly, her loving family. She is survived by her husband, Earl Dickman. Brother: Joseph Goldberg and wife Miriam. Sister-in-laws: Norma Dickman and Eileen Dickman. Children: Gary Dickman and wife Ronnie, Terri McCabe and husband Timothy, Scott Dickman and wife Mandi. Grandchildren: Shawn McCabe and wife George-Anna, Jamie Guiliano and husband Marcus, Melissa Jordan and husband Christopher, Rachel Sfass and husband Richard, Jordan Dickman, Max Dickman, and Samuel Dickman. Great Grandchildren: Brenna, Emily, Layla, Courtney, Justin, Maya and Jacob. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her two brothers-in-law, Bernard and Howard Dickman pre-deceased her. A funeral service will be held at the Ezrath Israel Synagogue, 34 Center Street, Ellenville, NY at 12:00 Noon on Sunday September 18, 2016 followed by internment at Ezrath Israel Cemetery in Wawarsing, NY. Shiva will be held at the home of Gary and Ronnie Dickman, Monday, September 19th through Thursday, September 22nd.
