Obituary of Rita D. Gross

Rita D. Gross, a long-time Liberty resident, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge, NJ. The daughter of the late Samuel Davis and Nancy Kaplan Davis, Rita was born on July 23, 1936 in New York City. 

Rita graduated with high honors from Cornell University and obtained a Master’s Degree in Education from SUNY New Paltz.  She was a teacher in the Liberty Central School District for twenty years.  Rita was a life-time member of Hadassah, past President of the Sisterhood at Congregation Ahavath Israel, Liberty, New York; and a past board member of the Liberty Public Library.  She was member of Congregation Ahavath Israel and the Liberty Garden Club.

Survivors include her son, David Gross, of Liberty, New York; son, Robert Gross and wife, Cindy Gross, of Yorktown Heights, New York; daughter, Amy Gross Hymanson and husband, Gerald Hymanson, of Morganville, New Jersey; grandchildren, Samantha Hymanson, Evan Hymanson, Stephanie Gross and Michele Gross; brother, Theodore Davis and wife Marcia Davis of Boca Raton, Florida; brother-in-law Meyer Gross and wife, Karen Gross of New York City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Congregation Ahavath Israel, 39 Chestnut Street, Liberty, New York. Interment will follow at Congregation Ahavath Israel Cemetery, Hysana Road, Liberty, New York.
