Obituary of Harriett Didinsky
Harriet Didinsky, the wife of Victor Didinsky and mother to James Hurwitz and Bruce Hurwitz, passed peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the age of 96. Having been a lifelong resident of South Fallsburg, her last several years were spent comfortably at the CareOne Assisted Living in Sommerset, New Jersey. Born in South Fallsburg to Julius and Bess Horwitz, Harriet attended Fallsburg High School and then attended New York University for several semesters, until her father's untimely illness required that she return home.
As a young woman, Harriet spent her early adult years as a telephone operator before marrying Victor. As a young housewife, Harriet socialized with Victor in community functions like the Lion's Club. After adopting James and Bruce as newborns and becoming a stay at home mother, Harriet became an avid bridge player, often arguing with Victor, her bridge partner, about missed plays. She was also fond of the opera, and travelled to the Metropolitan Opera House in New York throughout the opera season.
Later on in her life, she began working in the various Catskills hotels as a reservation supervisor. Finally, Harriet loved to travel, and experienced the counties of the former Soviet Union, England, Irland, Scotland, Japan, China, India and Isreal.
