Obituary of Sondra MacDonald

Sondra (Sandy) Macdonald of Ellenville, NY passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018. Sandy was born on October 12, 1933 to Max and Celia Schiffrin in Brooklyn NY. 

Sandy was a creative person who had a great love for animals. During her lifetime she wrote 2 books, ran a clothing store with a backroom that had coffee and friends gathered, made doll houses, cards, clothing, dolls, personalized knitwear and so much more. 

Survivors include her 3 living children: Diane Steichel, Joanne Steichel Karow and Cheryl Macdonald Wright and Proceeded in death by Andrea Steichel Moody and James Steichel. She is further survived by 2 sisters; Carole Heimowitz and Harriet Zaslov, 7 grandchildren Brian Minarich, David Thomas Moody, Adam Moody, Sage Steichel, Samara Karow, Jacob Wright and Jamie Wright and 10 great grandchildren. 

Our hearts are broken by the loss of this powerhouse of a woman. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Congregation Anshe Tzadyik Synagogue, 186 Canal Street, Ellenville, NY 12428. Burial will immediately follow at the Ezrath Israel Synagogue Cemetery, Route 209 in Wawarsing.
