Obituary of Helaine Weiner
Mountaindale, NY
Helaine Weiner, a lifelong resident of Mountaindale, NY, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, NY. She was 82 years old. The daughter of Sylvia (Goldress) and Sidney (Samuel) Rosenthal, Helaine was born on December 1, 1942.
Helaine grew up in Mountaindale where her family had a dairy business. As a teenager, she helped in the business and that’s how she met the love of her life, Martin. He worked for her parents by delivering groceries to the local hotels and bungalow colonies. That romance lasted and Helaine would have been married to Martin for 63 years this April.
Helaine graduated from Fallsburg High School and chose marriage over college. She was a stay-at-home mom who cherished her family and loved spending time with them. Whether it was a school function or sporting event, whether it was in good times or bad times, she would be there. And her family loved her back. She was so caring and so loving and always put others before herself. She will truly be missed.
When her children were grown, Helaine worked at the Town of Fallsburg as Deputy Clerk. Upon retirement, she and Martin spent many winters in Delray Beach, Florida with their Sullivan County friends. There, she enjoyed the warm weather and the fact that there was so much to do.
Helaine is survived by her husband Martin, her daughters, Ellen (Patrick) Young and Robin (Scot) Bedik; her son David Weiner; her 5 grandchildren, Stephen (Ariel), Gregory, Daniel, Ryan, and Andrew; her great-granddaughter, Scarlett; her sister-in-law, Marcia Weiner; and her niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Lynn Findling and brother-in-law Charles Weiner.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701. Interment will immediately follow at the Hebrew Congregation of Mountaindale Synagogue Cemetery, Marsh Road, Glen Wild, NY.
