It has been a little over thirty years since I moved west. Herb and his family were one of the more memorable families in Sullivan County. Herb, as is written about him had a unique and easy going way about him, an easy smile that he gave away readily. He will be missed, no doubt. My sincere condolences to the entire Gold family.

Herbie was always the most handsome kid in the school - and one of the most gentle. He was one of a kind and will be missed.

Herbie was one of my dearest and best friends. I met Herbie at Curry College. He was a year ahead of me. We became good friends. I use to go up to White Lake where my Uncle Dave owned Dave's Bungalow Colony during the summers of the 60's where Herbie would come by and visit me. I went on several occasions to his home and met Morris. Herbie kept in touch with me over the past fifty years. He would leave me the most funniest phone messages. He always knew how to make me laugh. I last saw Herbie in November, 2010 when he was in Florida. He came by and saw my Mom who was turning 90 at that time. (lost my Mom on March 12,2011), then he took me to lunch at the Flashback Diner. We had a lot of laughs and talked about people we knew and Herbie told me of what's going on in his life.
I told him he should exercise more as I told him that he always inspired me when I use to see him do 50 lb. curls with dumbbells at college.
I told him that I've been up to 40 lb. curls and that my goal was to do 50 lb.curls just like him. He invited me to stay as long as I like at his home should I visit New York again to come up to South Fallsburg.
Herbie was a terrific guy. I shall miss him as the "big" brother that I never had.
I know like my Mom, and Dad that Herbie shall always be with me in my heart and mind forever...
