Obituary of Lorraine Ganz

Divine Corners, NY

Lorraine Ganz, of Divine Corners NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.  She was 95.  She was the daughter of Lester and Hilda Drexler Greenstein.  Predeceased by her husband Eugene Ganz and survived by her sons Warren of Miami FL, Jay of Divine Corners and brothers Allen and Mel.

Lorraine was born in NYC but grew up in Kansas City, KS and Independence  Missouri.  As a teenager, she and her family moved to Hurleyville where she went to Fallsburg High School.  Later worked as a telephone operator as well as her Father's market.  After earning her Masters degree at SUNY Albany, she taught at Tri-Valley Highschool in Grahamsville for 20 years.   Afterwards,  Lorraine taught business courses at Sullivan County Community College for 10+ years.  Also a former member of the Tri-Valley Lions.  

Beloved and admired by many of her former students. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 10:00am at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701. Interment will immediately follow at the Hurleyville Synagogue Cemetery, Cemetery Road in Hurleyville.
