Elaine was strong and fierce and made things happen. When my son was in Kindergarten (he is 26 now), he experienced prejudice for being a Jew. (We are not even religious! His "Bar Mitzvah was a trip to Alaska; he stood on a glacier on his 13th birthday.) Elaine was horrified and jumped into action. Every single classroom had a discussion about diversity and prejudice.
She was an amazing lady who touched many many people and changed their lives for the better! May she rest in peace!

Please accept my sympathy at your loss. She was a great woman who encouraged me long ago at LCHS. What amazing accomplishments and community contributions she made throughout her life. She will be greatly missed.

Dear Michael and Stanley, Jim and I are saddened to learn of your mother,Elaine's, passing. She was such a help to me when I was a new mother living at Lipkowitz Bungalow colony...even babysitting Mary Alice so that I could attend a faculty holiday party. She was a tremendous asset to our Liberty faculty as she advocated for special needs children. Due to a doctor's appointment, I will not be able to attend her service today but know that you and she are in our prayers. Judy Brennan

Mrs Lipkowitz was my teacher back in the early 1980's and a she was a wonderful teacher and friend and she & I kept in touch since . She even made a sweater set for my oldest son when he was born which I still have today. I Loved her with all my heart and she always treated me like I was her daughter. I am going to miss her a great deal and I was wondering if you could mail me a memorial card that you have with her name on because I can not attend her service because I recently had a knee replacement and can't walk. I am very upset because I wanted to pay my respects and I can't come to her service. I beg you to please mail me her memorial card to Sandra Muthig 25 Huson Road Parksville N.Y. 12768. I am going to miss her very much , she & Leo both treated me and my parents like family . My father Albert Davis who recently passed away worked with Leo on Carrlands Dairy Farm and we use to live in Ferndale which was great because I use to walk to Elaines house a lot to hang and visit with her, I truly loved her , she was a terrifi& friend, and I am very heart broken to lose her. Her passing is truly a loss for me . I am begging you to send me a memorial card from her service because I am truly upset that I can't attend her service today . Thank You & God Bless You All !! Love Sandra Muthig
