Obituary of Beverly Sondak

After a sudden and short illness, Beverly Shapiro Sondak passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017, with her son at her side. Beverly was born on May 15, 1928 in the Bronx. Beverly was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She was the light of any gathering. Beverly will be remembered for her strength. Life was not easy for Beverly, she faced many challenges, not the least of which was the passing or two daughters and her husband, with unsurpassed strength and perseverance. When asked how she handled what life has thrown at her she would simply say," Each day is a gift from G-d. I just put one foot in front of the other and take one day at a time." Bev was active with the Kerhonkson/Ellenville Senior Citizens, Ellenville and Kerhonkson Synagogues. She was always willing to help others who might not have been as fortunate as herself. Survivors include her two Sons Steven Leonard and David Gary, Daughter Aramis Marguarite Santiago, Sister Coralie Cosnowsky, Grandchildren Shaunna Marie Nadeau , Tifanie Hellen and Celia Beverly Cotto, Great Grandchildren Arnaldo, Taime and Sophia Cotto, Braelyn, Aven and Colton Nadeau, and Reegan Hattat. She is predeceased by husband, Sol, daughters Taime Ellen and Randy Gayle, and brother Sanford Shapiro. A funeral service will take place on Friday, January 6, 2016 at 1:00PM at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc- Congregation Anshe Tzaydik, 186 Canal Street, Ellenville, NY with Rabbi Endre Stamler Officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Kerhonkson-Accord Jewish Farmers Cemetery, Boice Mill Rd, Kerhonkson, NY. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc.
