Obituary of Steven Jay Trachtenberg

Liberty, NY (Formerly of Monticello, NY)

Mr. Steven Trachtenberg, a resident of Liberty, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 78 years old. Born on July 30, 1947, in Monticello, NY, he was the son of Nathan and Beatrice Steinberger Trachtenberg.

Steven graduated from Boulder University in Boulder, CO, and spent many years in Monticello, where he was beloved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sister, Susan Delone Kennedy (Lawrence), and his niece, Elizabeth Paranhos (Arlo Paranhos, of Boulder, CO), along with assorted cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Steven was predeceased by his parents, Beatrice and Dr. Nathan Trachtenberg.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11:00am at the Landfield Avenue Synagogue Cemetery, Old Thompson Road in Monticello. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Council of the Adult Care Center in Liberty, NY.
