Obituary of Gloria Blank

Liberty, NY

Gloria Blank of Liberty, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the tender age of 94. She was born in Liberty, NY on November 11, 1931, and was the daughter of Jacob Katz and Ester Kirschner Katz. 

Gloria was a member of Congregation Ahavath Israel, Hadassah, and Sisterhood. She gave generously to many charities including Heiffer International and the Cherokee Nation Indian Child welfare program.  There were many anonymous contributions to local persons in need. Gloria was an avid knitter who continuously gifted handmade infants hats to area hospitals.  Most notably, she will be remembered for her extraordinary baking talents. Her legendary cookies and pastries were gifted to many, including care packages sent to deployed US military.  She was a recipient of numerous awards for her highly accomplished tennis skills.

Gloria was a loving mother who raised three children. Family gatherings were a frequent affair at her home.  There were always plenty of extra seats at her table to welcome others.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Blank-Karpowski (Walter Karpowski), daughter, Lorrie Blank-Frishman (Allen Frishman), and son, Mitchell Blank (Barbara Ward-Blank). Additionally, her two grandchildren, Jenna Blank and Ean Blank. 

Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Robert “Bob” Blank, her sister, Anita Neidorf, and her parents Jacob and Ester Katz. 

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 12:00pm at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701. Interment will immediately follow at the Congregation Ahavath Israel Synagogue Cemetery, Hysana Road, Liberty, NY. 

Memorial contributions may be made in Gloria’s name to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
