Obituary of Cheri Lynn Rice

Sparrow Bush, NY

It is with much grief and sorrow, the Rice family announces the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, sister, niece, and aunt, Cheri Lynn Rice, due to pancreatic cancer. She passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2026.

Cheri was the cherished daughter of our late sister, Judith Veronica (Judy) Rice, who predeceased her on March 27, 2024. She is survived by her two brothers, Corey Rice and Tristan Rice, as well as her uncles and aunts, including Dave Rice (Wendy), Annabelle Deguire, Mike Buttineau (Michele), and Malcolm Rice (Nancy). She also had a deceased uncle, Robert Rice, who passed away in 1987. Cheri is survived by her loving cousins, Michelle Rice and Yvel Belliveau, Andrea Deguire (Rob), Gina Deguire (Bob), Jason Buttineau (Heather), Dawn Buttineau (Daniel), and Christina Rice. She also leaves behind her friend Kim Wright and the Deguire and Buttineau children: Trystan Rice, Taylor Rice, Noah Tremblay-Howell, Caleb Tremblay-Howell, Naomi Brabant, Ben Brabant, Morgan Buttineau, Charlie Buttineau, and Liam. Cheri was a devoted spouse to Sean and had many dear friends, including Julia, KJ, and Sandy, as well as numerous friends and neighbors in New York. She was also cherished by her business associates.

Born in Toronto, Cheri lived in Ontario before moving to New York City as a young adult. She worked as a travel agent and later established her own travel agency, where she excelled and built strong relationships with her clients. Cheri loved to travel with her family, friends, and colleagues and purchased a home in Sparrow Bush, New York, which she shared with Sean and her cat. She found joy in growing vegetables and planting flowers, enjoying nature walks, and embarking on adventures around the world. Visiting family was her favorite pastime. Cheri had a warm, loving spirit and was always ready to help anyone in need, genuinely caring for her family and friends.

Cheri was a member of Wasauksing First Nations through her family. She had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by her family and friends in Canada and New York.

A celebration of Cheri’s amazing life will be held at a later date.

Please send your love and prayers to Sean, her family, and her friends during this difficult time. Thank you. Miigwetch.

Arrangements are honorably entrusted to the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home - 845-794-7474 or www.josephngarlickfuneralhome.com.
