Obituary of Diane Hauser

Fort Myers, FL - Formerly Sullivan County, NY

Diane (Wasserlauf) Hauser passed away on April 4, 2026, in Fort Myers, FL. She was born on May 23, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, and carried her roots with her throughout her life.

Diane moved upstate to be with the love of her life, “Sammy” Wasserlauf. Together, they built a home and raised their family. She was a dedicated wife and mother to Joy (Wasserlauf) Edery and Richard Wasserlauf.

In time, Diane relocated to Florida to be closer to her children. She was fortunate to find love again with Fredrick J. Hauser, with whom she shared a meaningful life and family until his passing. Diane spoke often of her longing to be reunited with her beloved Sammy, a reunion she now holds as they rest together.

She was the cornerstone of her family. A devoted mother and mother-in-law, she shared a close and loving bond with her daughter-in-law, Michele Wasserlauf. Diane and Fred took immense pride in their role as a grandparent to Joy and Moshes girls Aliza (Edery) Norstein and Shani (Edery) Armstrong. Her most cherished title was “Great Grandma” to Jonathan Samuel Wayne, whom she loved so deeply you could see it in her eyes.

Known for her strong spirit and unmistakable honesty, Diane loved deeply and expressed that love in countless ways. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures tending to her plants, appreciating nature and its animals.

Diane’s life and legacy live on through the generations she shaped, the traditions she passed down, and the memories she leaves behind.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in every shared meal, every hummingbird sighting, and every garden in bloom.

A graveside service will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 10:00am at the Congregaton Temple Beth El Cemetery, Route 17B, Bethel, NY.
