Obituary of Rose Schiff
Rose S. Schiff passed away quietly in State College, Pennsylvania, on November 22, 2013, at the age of 87.
Rose graduated from Hunter College at the age of 19, and for several years worked for Paramount Pictures. After marrying Sydney P. Schiff, she moved to Liberty, NY, where they made their home for many years. Syd was a general surgeon who practiced in Liberty, served in leadership positions at the local hospitals, served as a dedicated State Police physician and Sullivan County Medical Examiner, was the physician who organized the emergency care for the injured and sick at the Woodstock festival in 1969, he passed away in 1985. Ten years later, Rose moved to Boca Raton, Florida, where she lived for 14 years. Rose loved to travel, and had visited over 130 countries throughout her lifetime. In 2010, she moved to a retirement home in State College to be near her son, Steven Schiff, a faculty member at Penn State University, his wife Eleanor Schiff, and their children.
Rose is survived by her son and 4 grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at the Temple Sholom Cemetery in Bridgeville, NY on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 2:00pm.
