Obituary of Sylvia Berman

Sylvia Berman formerly of Hurleyville, NY passed away peacefully on January 16, 2014 at the Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehab Center, Commack, NY. She was 101 years old. Daughter of the late Joseph & Rose (Checkman) Garelick, she was born on August 17, 1912 in New York City. She was the loving mother of, Susan Leon of Commack, NY; grandmother to Adam, Cami and Evan-Luchesi Leon; great-grandmother to Truman Robert, Rose Naomi and Robert Michael. She is also survived by her loving nieces: Jaqueline Herman, Harriet Sherman and Sylvia Neuhouse as well as many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Max Berman. Her funeral service will be Monday, January 20, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Cong Anschei Synagogue Cemetery, Hurleyville, NY. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph N.
