Mrs. Katz was my English teacher who taught me the meaning of the word schmatta while she was back stage changing for Man of Lamancha. I had the priviledge of performing in Gypsy as an adorable blonde (ha!) with her as Mama Rose. She was a wonderful, witty woman - my heart is a tad heavy as I write this. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

So many wonderful memories are flooding all around. Mrs. Katz has always been such an inspiration to me, a positive influence, and always will be. I learned much from her in class, on stage & back stage, walking to rehearsals, in correspondence, and countless ways.
My thoughts and prayers to all.

My heart goes out to Anita's sons. She was not only my teacher at Liberty High, she was a loyal lifelong friend to our family. Please know that your Mom was a good soul and when I was so ill she visited me nearly every day. I wish you peace in knowing she was amazing.♡ With love,

To the Katz family, My deepest sympathy over the loss of your wonderful mother and grandmother. Anita Katz was my 10th grade English teacher at LCHS in 77/78. Even though more than 35 years have passed, I credit this wonderful woman with so much of my education. She was an AMAZING teacher, largely because of her persona in the classroom. She filled the room. She was tough and fair and funny. I've often referred to her and whenever I see an interview with Judge Judy, I think of Anita. Maybe I loved her from the start because my Mom's name is Anita. I think, though, I loved her as a teacher because she had moxie AND a twinkle in her eye. She suffered no fools and, when you rose to the occasion, she rewarded you with loving praise and inspiration to do well over and over. I have gone on to be a college professor and I'd like to think that I'm a teacher in the Anita Katz model. My deepest sympathy. Sincerely, Dean Davis
