Anita Katz, 87
of Colorado, Formerly of Liberty, NY
April 11, 1926 – February 10, 2014
Anita Katz was born April 11, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY to Hyman and Lena Goldstein. She was a first generation American.
She was married to Morris Katz who past away in 1990. She is survived by her three sons: Steven, Arthur and Robert who all currently live in Colorado and her two grandchildren; Sam and Angelica.
Anita spent her final years in Colorado by her family.
Anita was part of that first generation of women who went back to College after their children had grown and then she was an English Teacher at Liberty HS for twenty years.
Anita had a beautiful voice and sang locally her whole life, including roles of Dulcinea, in Man of La Mancha, Mamma Rose in Gypsy and Lola in Damn Yankees.
She was funny, well read and very up on everything until the end.
She had MS most of her life yet she never let it define her. She never complained and lived her life with strength ,grace, humor and dignity.
She was loved and will now be missed.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Ahavath Israel Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
