Obituary of Philip Thaw

Philip Thaw May 24, 1924 ~ June 15, 2014 Yankee Lake, NY Phil Thaw, age 88, of Yankee Lake, NY passed away peacefully at home on Sunday June 15, 2014. The son of the late Max & Celia Thaw, he is survived by Anne, his loving wife and best friend of 66 years, son Jeff and his wife Trish, beloved pet Miss Kitty, and his five grand-kitties.  He was a loving and caring husband and father, whose family meant the world to him. He retired in 1991 as the CFO of the New York Jets Football Club.  Phil enjoyed a long and happy retirement during which he actively gave back to the community.  Among his many roles, he was the Vice President of the Wurtsboro Hebrew Congregation, past President of the Mamakating Seniors, past President of 50+ Club of Temple Sinai of Middletown, member of the Board of Directors of the Sullivan County Jewish Star, past President of the Yankee Lake Association, and an active member of the RSVP of Sullivan County. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff of Orange Regional Medical Center and especially to the staff of their Rehabilitation Unit. Graveside service will be on Monday, June 16, at 2:00 pm, at the Wurtsboro Hebrew Cemetery on Route 209 in Wurtsboro.  The family will sit Shiva at home.  A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
