Obituary of David Jay Goodstein

The stars aligned today as the universe welcomed our son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend into eternal rest. We grieve his loss but more importantly we celebrate his life. Those of us fortunate enough to have shared David's life, learned to laugh hard and to find joy amongst family and friends. He was always quick with a joke or to light up your smoke but there was someplace that he'd rather be. David passed peacefully into the night surrounded by people that loved him. He was serenaded by the Eagles as he transitioned from life to death. In that moment, beyond the sadness and the pain we all felt the breath of God. He was predeceased and welcomed into his arms by his father Isidore Goodstein. David had a deep love for his family and is survived by his Mother Constance Kaye and his stepfather Bert Kaye. His loving children, Amy Goodstein, Brian and Danielle Goodstein and his grandson Evan, Jacob Goodstein and Isabella Goodstein. His siblings and their spouses, Ellen and Jack Mooney, Ronald Goodstein, Bruce and Elizabeth Goodstein, Steven and Tama Goodstein, Marla and Steve Danner. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Michael Goodman and his wife Kaylee, Rachel Goodstein and her son Brandon, Lauren Weyman and her husband Brian, Marissa Goodstein, David Goodstein, Mack Goodstein, Katie Danner, Matthew Danner, Marin Goodstein and Kyle Danner. David lived a very fulfilling life and among his accomplishments he was very proud to have built and operated Brookside Homes. His peers respected him and often sought out his advice and council on the industry he loved. David had a love of music and attended more concerts than we can count. He wasn't afraid to dance like no one was watching. He loved cars and the feeling of wind in his hair as he cruised with the top down. Those of you lucky enough to count Goody as your friend knew how he cherished each and every one of you. He was truly generous to a fault and nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by those he loved. Although there is great sadness in his passing there is also an overwhelming joy for having the opportunity to share in his life. David's family invite you to attend the graveside service at Woodridge Synagogue Cemetery on Marsh Road in Glen Wild, NY on Friday, July 11th at 9:00 AM. In David's honor we ask that you take the time to love and to be loved. Please have the grace to forgive and the wisdom to remember.
