Obituary of Lillian Libby Davidoff

LILLIAN "LIBBY" GERBER DAVIDOFF October 28, 1924 - December 15, 2014 Monticello, NY Lillian passed away December 15, 2014 at the age of 90. She was co-owner of Davco Stores on Broadway in Monticello. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Daughter, and Bubbie. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Nettie Gerber; and brothers, Morris, Isidore, and Herman, and sister-in-law, Lorraine Gerber. She is survived by loving and dedicated husband of 63 years, Abraham (Abe) Davidoff; devoted daughters, Rita (Larry) Adelson and Joan (Kevin) Kumor; and beloved granddaughters, Jillian Kumor and Julia Adelson. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones, following a short illness. She was born October 28, 1924, in Brooklyn. She grew-up in Liberty, NY where her family owned Gerber Dry Cleaning in Liberty, NY. She worked in the family business for many years. After marrying Abe and moving to Monticello, she worked in the  Davidoff family business, Davco Store on Brodway. She worked there until her and Abe's retirement in 1998. She passed away shortly after her 90th birthday, in Monticello. She was a life member of Hadassah, a member of the Landfield Avenue Synagogue Sisterhood, and was very involved with the Hebrew Day School of Sullivan and Ulster Counties. She was a avid knitter and gardener. She was musically talented, playing the Oboe and Violin. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. She was greatly loved by all those who knew her. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, December 16 at 1:30 p.m. at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello. Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz will officiate. Burial will be in the Landfield Ave Synagogue Cemetery, Thompson Rd., Monticello. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the charity of your choice. The family will observe Shiva at the Davidoff home in Monticello. The family will be receiving visitors for the Shiva period during the following hours: Following funeral on Wednesday, Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday 6:30 to 9 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral arrangements by Joseph N.
