Obituary of Richard Kazansky

Richard Daniel Kazansky April 22, 1942 - March 21, 2013 Monticello, New York   Richard Kazansky of Monticello, New York, proprietor of Kaz's Wines and Liquors, died Tuesday, March 22, 2013, at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was 70 years of age.   The son of Alberta "Terry" Kazansky and the late Philip Kazansky, he was born April 22, 1942, in the Bronx. When he was a child he moved to Monticello with his family.   Mr. Kazansky attended Monticello High School and Long Island University. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1963.  He was the head bartender at the Concord Resort Hotel for 25 years and served as shop steward and ultimately became the Vice President for Local #76 of the Hotel and Restaurant Employees Union at the hotel. After the Concord Hotel closed, Richard opened Kaz's Wines and Liquors in Monticello in 2000.   Richard met his wife, Anne, on a blind date in 1966 and the two have been together ever since. Richard was a loyal Yankee fan, loved Oldies music and going on cruises. He is perhaps best known for his outrageous sense of humor which made him a joy to be around, as long as you got the joke. Richard was also known for his unconditional love for his wife and children who were his world.   He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Anne Grace Kazansky, at home; three sons, David Kazansky and his wife, Evy of Bronx, NY, Matthew Kazansky and his wife, Jennifer of Brooklyn, NY, and Adam Kazansky and longtime girlfriend, Rachel Gerstein, of New York City; two grandchildren, Ariana and Noah Kazansky of Bronx, NY; a brother, Jeffrey Kazansky of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Linda Siegelman of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sharon Kazansky Green of Monticello and New York City as well as several nieces and nephews.  He leaves behind many loving friends who will miss him.   Funeral services will be held Sunday at noon at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home 388 Broadway Monticello. Burial will be at Landfield Avenue Cemetery, Thompson Rd. Monticello, NY Shiva will be observed at the family home in Monticello on Sunday and Monday.
