Obituary of Murray Denenberg

Murray "Murph" Denenberg May 8th 1923-August 17, 2011 Goshen NY Murray Denenberg , 87, of Woodridge N.Y. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2011. The son of the late Meyer and Bessie Denenberg . He was predeceased by wife Lillian, children Wendy and Patti Gloria. Murph is survived by brother, Aaron, son, Dennis, daughter- in- Michele, daughter Audrey,son-in-law Don, daughter Debra, son- in- law Gary, grandson, Justin, granddaughters Jaime and Meredith, great grandsons Adam and Logan. Murph was a star basketball player for the Woodridge High School team. He served in the US Armed forces, 93rd bomb squadron during WWII. He was chief of police, town clerk and Urban Renewal Director of Woodridge. He was known as the owner of the Dari-dip, a small business in Monticello NY and later in life worked for his good friend, Nat Kagan in the area of sales. He held the title of Kiwanis and Residence Council President. Murph both resembled and had a similar sense of humor to the late actor, Walter Matthau. He always agreed with this comparison though he would add that he was better looking. He was a Yankees and Knicks fan. Murph had very thoughtful friends, including: Sara Dodd& daughter Marci, Della Dale, George, Robin and George Kister, Dan Kane, the late Arnold Armstrong, the late Lester Fein and family and the late Nat Kagan and Irving Podhurst. Murph had strength and courage with a great sense of humor. He was a loving dad who always listened. He will always be in our hearts. He will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank all the staff at Elant of Goshen, Jewish Family Services and Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties Inc. We will always be thankful for your kindness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 11 A.M. at the Joseph N. Garick Funeral Home Inc. 388 Broadway Monticello, NY . Burial services will be held directly after the funeral services at Congregation Ohave Sholem cemetery, Marsh Rd, Glen Wild NY. Shiva services will be held directly after the burial services, at the home of Gary, Debra &Meredith Epstein in Middletown N.Y., until 10pm that evening.
