Obituary of Clara Rugg

CLARA RUGG May 9, 1923 - February, 18, 2014 Ellenville, NY Clara Rugg of Ellenville, NY died February 18, 2014 at the Golden Hill Nursing and Rehab Center in Kingston. She was 90 years old. The daughter of the late Esther and Jacob Panich, she was born in Ellenville on May 9, 1923. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin Rugg and her brother, Sol Panich. Clara was a chef and restaurant manager at the family resort, the Highland Hotel (Greenfield Park, NY) and later at the many local restaurants in Ellenville, including the Key Spot and the Nevele Coffee Shop. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Clara is survived by her daughter, Eileen and Sidney Pew of E. Andover, Maine; son, Dr. Barry Rugg of New York City; and son, Dr. Arnold Rugg and Elaine Rugg of Kingston, NY. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jackie and Richard Moscarelli, Joe and Danielle Rugg, Samantha Rugg-Horne and Nathan, Delilah Rugg-Silverblatt and Roger, Isaac Rugg, Ian Rugg, Esther Pew and Elek Pew; as well as her great-grandchildren, Jake and Jenna Moscarelli, Ashley, Sophia and Peyton Rugg, Elijah, Ruby and Daniel Horne, Joshua and Zachary Silverblatt; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Clara was a longtime member of Hadassah and the Sisterhood of Ezrath Israel Synagogue. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 21, at 11 a.m. at the Ezrath Israel Synagogue in Ellenville. Burial will follow in the Ezrath Israel Synagogue Cemetery in Wawarsing. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home of Ellenville.
