Obituary of Gerald Rosenberg

Jerry Rosenberg, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away March 16, 2014, after a long illness. Born to Gertrude and Joseph Rosenberg, Jerry was a long time resident of Monticello, NY, where he attended high school and met his wife of 66 years, the former Bella Herman. Upon returning from service in the Army Aircorp during World War II, he established strong ties to the community, having served both as village trustee and village health inspector. Jerry was a founding member of Temple Shalom where he had served as past president, choir member and Sunday school teacher. Additionally Jerry was a member of the Jewish War Veterans and the Knights of Pythias. He was the owner of Ace Window Craft and also worked at Monticello Raceway where he climbed the ranks from a ticket seller to becoming its Assistant Paramutual Manager. After retirement, Jerry and Bella resided in Delray Beach, Florida, becoming an active volunteer at the Delray Medical Center, and served as a Deputy in the Delray Villa’s security patrol. In 2011 Jerry and Bella relocated to Las Vegas, NV. Jerry is survived by his wife, Bella, of Las Vegas; daughter, Jill Meltzer of Monticello; son; Alan Rosenberg of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place Thursday, March 20th at 11:00 am at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway in Monticello. Burial will be at the Workman’s Circle Cemetery #610 in Monticello, NY. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home of Monticello.
