Obituary of Lawrence (Larry) Gleich

LAWRENCE (LARRY) GLEICH SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY Lawrence (Larry) Gleich, a lifelong resident of the area, and the retired office manager for A. Alport & Sons in South Fallsburg, passed awayMarch 17, 2005 in the Skilled Nursing Unit of Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 87. The son of the late Gussie and Charles Gleich, he was born December 5, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY. He lived in South Fallsburg, where hegraduated fromhigh schooland was a member of the South Fallsburg Synagogue for many years. Larry was a corporal with the 7th armored division of the Unites States Army and served overseas during World War 2. Larry volunteered countless hourswith his wife, Frances, at Sullivan County ARC's Rose Valley where they both were honored as Volunteers of the Year in 1996. He also expended much energy delivering meals on wheelsfor the Sullivan County Office of the Aging and served on the Board of theSenior Citizen Legislative Committee. He received many awards and citations commemorating time and effort spent volunteering his time. He was married to Frances Kriegman Gleich for 62 years. Their marriageleaves alegacyof unconditional love. Survivors include his loving wife, Frances; children, Stuart and Mary Gleich of Monticello, Lucy Gleich Rothman of New Paltz, Paula Seigal of Poughkeepsie, grandchildren David Rothman of Albany, NY, Marleen and Brent Schwartz of Berlin, NJ, Allison and Peter Hilliard of Roslyn, PA, and four great-grandchildren Benjamin Schwartz, and Elizabeth, Nicholas and Jonathan Hilliard, and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Liberty, NY. Today Friday, March 18, 2005 at 11am. Rabbi Marvin Goldman will officiate. Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements were made by Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, Monticello.
