Obituary of Morton I Morosky
MORTON I. MOROSKY
ELLENVILLE, NY
Morton I. Morosky was taken from us on May 29th 2006 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 62 years old. Morty was born June 22nd 1943 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of the late Geri and Benny The Sheik Morosky.
Morty, a 40-year resident of the area, will be remembered as an animated jokester. He was a happy, easy going, caring, hard working, husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend. Morty was always willing to lend a hand to those who needed it. He was a great storyteller and a man of a million voices. You never quite knew which one of his many characters you would speak to next. He will be remembered for his uninhibited outlook and approach to Life. Regardless of the consequences, Morty told it like it was upfront and honestly.
Morty was a self-made entrepreneur. Throughout the course of his life he had owned many thriving businesses. He owned and operated a hot dog wagon, a donut truck, a Laundromat, a candy store, and a pet shop. He converted the old handkerchief factory in Ellenville into a booming stained glass business, which he later moved to Woodridge. At the peak of his success he employed over 150 people. He later moved on and purchased the Town Tavern. In 2000, Morty went back into the glass business, where he and his wife founded Glass Benders. His last business, Bagel Benders, fulfilled his lifelong dream of being a bagel shop owner.
Morty was an avid antique car collector. He enjoyed flying model airplanes, flea marketing, and dining out. He loved Chinese food and was a hot dog wagon aficionado.
Morty loved his community. He served as trustee in the Village of Ellenville for two terms. Before Morty became ill, he was a permanent fixture in the courthouse. He loved listen to the court cases being heard. You could always find him throughout the village just shooting the breeze. Recently, Morty was the first handicapped individual in NY State to sue a municipality and win. The Village courthouse was mandated to become handicapped accessible as a result of Mortys suit.
Morty was a wonderful, wonderful man. His family adored him, and loved him endlessly. He was taken before his time, and will be missed more than words can ever say.
Survivors include his devoted wife Irene, his two daughters Fawn and Elayne, his grandson Gabrial, his son Scott, his brother Stanley and his wife Terra. He is also survived by his dear friends Kenny Persell, Kim Quick and their children Danielle and Herb Persell.
Funeral services will be held on Monday June 5, 2006 at 2pm in Congregation Anshe Tzaydik Synagogue Canal Street Ellenville, NY. Burial will be in Anshe Tzaydik Cemetery Route 209 Wawarsing.
