Obituary of Sylvia C. Semel

SYLVIA C. SEMEL MONTICELLO, NY Sylvia C. Semel, a lifetime resident of the area, and a retired Postmaster after 26 years of service in the Thompsonville Post Office, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2006 at home with her family by her side. She was 90. Sylvia was the widow of Michael Semel who passed in 1983. She came to this area at the age of 5. She was the daughter of Max and Mamie Gard Uretzky who formerly owned the Mayflower Hotel in Thompsonville. She was a member of the Landfield Ave Synagogue in Monticello, and a former Volunteer for 17 years at the Benjamin Cosar Elementary School in Fallsburg. She was the loving mother of two daughters; Maddy Weisman and her husband Joseph of South Fallsburg and Arizona and June Wagner and her husband Joseph of Ellenville, her one brother; Jack Uretzky of Rockland County, and her four loving grandchildren; Harris, Rachel, Larry and Alyson and her two great grandchildren; Max and Theo. Funeral services will be held today, Friday, March 24, 2006 at 12pm in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc. 388 Broadway Monticello, NY. Rabbi Moshe Frank will officiate. Burial will be in Landfield Ave Synagogue Cemetery Thompson Road Monticello. Funeral arrangements by Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc. Monticello.
