Obituary of Frederick (Fred) Grundt

FRED "POP" "POPPY" GRUNDT Ellenville, N.Y Fred Grundt, a longtime resident of Ellenville, died Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Kingston Hospital. He was 75. Fred was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on December 18, 1930 to the late Frieda Solomon and the late Bernard Grundt. Fred was retired from the Ellenville Shoprite. He was an avid sports fan, with the New York Mets being his #1 passion. Fred was a coach and board member of the Ellenville Little League. Survivors include his wife, Roberta Grundt of Ellenville; his daughter, Hillary Smith; son-in-law, Darren Smith of Napanoch; his son, Steve Grundt, of Ellenville; a brother, Stuart Solomon, of Connecticut; two sisters, Barbara Seaman and Rebecca Kaplan both of the state of Florida; six nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Diane Cohen and Beverly Cohen, of Fishkill. Last but not least, Fred is survived by the joys of his life, his granddaughter, Bailey Smith, and his grandson and baseball buddy, Logan Smith, both of Napanoch. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 12:15 p.m. at the graveside, at the Anshe Tzaydik Cemetery, Route 209, Wawarsing.
