Obituary of Carl Harris Deitz

CARL HARRIS DEITZ MONGAUP VALLEY, NY Carl Deitz, a 40 year resident of the area and longtime area Musician, working in Kutshers and the Raleigh Hotel as well as playing with various other bands, died on Monday, June 26, 2006 at home with his family by his side. He was 67. Carl was born in Brooklyn on April 3, 1939 the son of Michael and Mickey Ginsberg Deitz. He was a lifelong musician. He led numerous bands including the Carl Deitz Jazz Band, the Beautiful Earth Jazz Band, Carl Deitz and the Raleigh Orchestra, Inner Urge and the D-Train and so many more. He was a radio personality with WJFF in Jeffersonville where he volunteered his time on his spot Studio B. He is survived by his wife Nancy Deitz at home in Mongaup Valley, his son; Jeremy Deitz of Vermont, his three daughters; Suzanne Windland and her husband Jody of Queens, NY, Beth Painter and her husband Gerard of Westfield, NJ and Amy Norton and her husband Stephen of Rochester, NY, his step children; Joseph Pando and Deana Pando, both of Bethel, Patricia VanPelt and her husband Bill of Long Island, his brother; Syd Deitz and his wife Marcia of Jackson, NJ and his sister; June Loccosano and her husband Charlie of Morganville, NJ. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 1pm in the Evergreen Cemetery Route 17B Bethel, NY. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in Carls memory be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties 800 Stony Brook Court Newburgh, NY, or to WJFF Jeffersonville, NY.
