Obituary of Rose A/K/A Sylvia Rose Garfinkel

ROSE GARFINKEL LIBERTY, NY Rose Garfinkel, a former owner and operator of the New Edgewood Hotel in Loch Sheldrake, NY with her late husband Joseph, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2007 in Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 91. Rose was born in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of Samuel and Anna Aronowitz Karlitz. She was the widow of Joseph Garfinkel who passed in 1978. Rose was a member of the Hurleyville Synagogue, and 27 year CRMC Hospital Auxiliary member who was very dedicated to the Auxiliary and who put in numerous hours during the year, and also a very active participant in the Senior Companion Program and also the Office of the Aging R.S.V.P. program. She is survived by her son; Gerald Garfinkel and his wife Doris of Chevy Chase, Maryland, her daughter; Shelia Lashinsky of Monticello, her two sisters; Helen Russin and her husband Irving and Tess Dreyfack and her husband Raymond all of Coconut Creek Florida, brother; Irving Karlitz of Hollendale, Fla, five grandchildren; Elizabeth, Mindy, Sarah, Rebecca and Johanna and her five great grandchildren; Chelsea, Rachel, Megan, Jessica and Sierra as well as a host of nieces & nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 11AM in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc. 388 Broadway Monticello, NY. Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz will officiate. Burial will be in the Hurleyville Synagogue Cemetery, Hurleyville, NY. Shiva will be observed at the home of Sheila Lashinsky in Monticello until Sunday.
