Obituary of Muriel Jaffe

MURIEL D. JAFFE LIBERTY, NY Muriel D. Jaffe of Liberty NY, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed to her eternal rest on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of David and Rae Dichter and was born May 7, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY. Muriel married her late husband Max on June 16, 1940 and immediately became a member of the family business, Jaffes Evergreen Manor Hotel where she was the office manager, baker and jack-of- all trades. She later became the office manager of Brenders Leghorns, where she was an integral part of the operation. In later life, she was the office manager of Kutshers Camp Anwana, Inc. Muriel was a very dynamic, community minded person who served simultaneously as president of the Congregation Ahavath Israel Sisterhood and Hadassah. She served as the president of the Liberty Parent Teachers Association and as a member of the Liberty School Board during the construction period of the High School and for a number of years thereafter. She also served on the B.O.C.E.S. Board. She is survived by her sons David and his wife Ellen of Liberty NY, and Joseph and his wife Nancy of Weston CT; five grandchildren, Elise and her husband Daniel Sangeap, Michael Jaffe and his wife Stephanie, Rachel and her husband Patrick Mauceri, Adam Jaffe, and Amanda Jaffe; and four great-grandchildren, Abraham Sangeap, Kevin Jaffe, Max Mauceri and Lia Jaffe. Muriel was predeceased by her two sisters, Pauline Tolmage and Beatrice Waks. Funeral services will be held at Congregation Ahavath Israel on Wednesday January 24, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. with interment following at the Congregations cemetery. Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz will preside. Funeral arrangements by Joseph Garlick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Ahavath Israel of Liberty NY or Hadassah.
