Obituary of Gussie Rados

GUSSIE RADOS NORTH MIAMI BEACH AND SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY Gussie Rados, the widow of Morris Rados and the former owner of Gold & Rados cottages and poultry farm in South Fallsburg, NY died on May 14, 2007 in Aventura Medical Center Aventura Florida. She was 91. Gussie was born in Lodz, Poland on October 15, 1915 the daughter of Szmuel and Esther Baila Leizerowicz Domfort. She was a holocaust survivor, but lost her parents and her six siblings during the war. She met her husband Morris, in a displaced persons camp in Europe and together they built a new life in the US. Together, Gussie, Morris, Ruthie and Manny took 40 acres in South Fallsburg and turned it into one of the nicest colonies in the area. Gussie, whose famous words include Today is perfect & tomorrow will be better. She was the consummate Hostess. Whether it was her childrens friends, her friends and neighbors, the door was always open and the table ready. The aroma of cakes, cookies and chicken soup wafted throughout her home. She was a member of South Fallsburg Hebrew Association, and a Lifetime Member of Hadassah. She is survived by her children; Barbara Sush and her husband Richard, Helen Rados and her husband James Goldfarb and Sheila Haber and her companion Steve Gordon, her sister; Ruth Gold, her grandchildren; Matthew and Darren Sush, Jillian and Rebecca Haber, Eli and Joanna Goldfarb, her niece; Esther Gold and her nephews and their spouses, Sam and Angela Gold, Steve and Helene Gold, and Michael and Esther Radoszycki, and her grandnephews and grandnieces, Bari and Barry Mays, Bryan, Griffin, Austin, Haden Gold, Pamela and Helen Radoszycki, and great grandnephew Evan, and other family all over the world. She valued education. Upon her arrival in the US she quickly learned the language and instilled the love of learning in her children and grandchildren. Her devotion & dedication to her family sustained her. She always said her most prized possessions where her children & grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at 1pm in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc. 388 Broadway Monticello, NY. Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz will officiate. Burial will be in the South Fallsburg Hebrew Assoc. Cemetery Marsh Road, Glen Wild, NY. Shiva will be observed in the home of Helen Rados and James Goldfarb from after the burial until Friday evening and again on Sunday and Monday evening from 5 to 7pm. Donations in memory of Gussie may be made to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC.
