Obituary of Beatrice Ruderman

BEATRICE RUDERMAN LAUDERHILL, FL FORMERLY OF WOODRIDGE, NY Beatrice Ruderman, a former resident of Woodridge, died on Friday, August 17 in Vitas Hospice at the Florida Medical Center. She was 94. Bette was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 22, 1913 the daughter of Samuel and Rebecca Patiky Sincoff. She weighed 2 pounds at birth, the last of triplets born at home in Brooklyn. There were 7 children before the triplets as well. She married the late George Ruderman in 1934 and moved to Woodridge then later relocated back to Brooklyn and retired to Tamarac, Florida in 1975. She was a loving, devoted, caring, creative and very bright person. She was an avid reader known to read two in one day, sometimes staying up all night to do so. She read anything she could get her hands on. In her own words;From the Iliad and Odyssey to smut. Her Grandchildren called her the living dictionary. She was a fabulous gourmet cook, ranging from linguine with clam sauce to her stuffed cabbage and the tastiest best brisket. She could knit and crochet as fast as a machine, but only for people she loved. Her grandson Robert used to call her with orders for sweaters and hats for his friends and babies in Mexico, or for poor babies in Israel. She always managed to knit up a few. Bette had a wonderful sense of humor and always made people smile. Quoting Robert, My Nanny was given 1 gallon of gas many years ago and kept running for 50,000 miles. She is survived by her two daughters; Marilyn Burger and her husband Charles of Staten Island, NY and Linda Fromer of Coconut Creek, Fl, her Sister-in-Law Ruth Ruderman, her grandchildren; Dr. Robert Burger, Randi Burger, Jill & Rich Holmes, Jodie Levine, her great grandchildren; Shaun, Tyler, Corey, Allie Burger, Zachary Burger, Gunnar Holmes and Sydnie Levine as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and also by many people who loved her and called her NANNY. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 1pm in the Workmen Circle #281 Cemetery Marsh Rd, Glen Wild, NY. Rabbi Irving Goodman will officiate. Shiva will be observed at the Marilyn Burger in Staten Island. Memorial contributions may be made to Florida Medical Center, Vitas Hospice 500 Oakland Park Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, Fla 33313.
