Ruth Malek, ahomemaker and retired Antique Dealer andlongtime resident of Sullivan County, passed peacefully on February 1, 2008, In Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 82.
Ruth was the daughter of the late Max and Gussie Spring, of Neversink; she was born in Harlem, NY on Nov. 3, 1925.Ruth was the loving widow of Zachary Irving Malek, who passed away in June 2005.
She is survived by her five sons: Michael Malek of Tennessee, Stephen Malek, David and Glen Malek of Monticello, and Jerry Malek and his wife, Carol, of Bethel,; her four grandchildren: Zachary, Mark, Andrew and Adam Malek, and Kenneth Cuttita; one brother Sam Spring, of Loch Sheldrake, and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers predeceased her.
Ruth was an extraordinary woman, a very loving, caring and devoted mother and grandmother, and a sincere friend to all who were fortunate to get to know her. She had a radiant personality and was always happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. She had a true passion for life and was eager to share it with everyone she met. She will be missed greatly and never forgotten.
The nurturing and caring staff of the Skilled Nursing Unit of Catskill Regional Medical Center was wonderful to Ruth in the final eight years of her life there and will not be forgotten.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 11am in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery Sunset Lake Road Liberty, NY. Rabbi M. Medwin will officiate.
Memorial contributions can be made in Ruths name to the Skilled Nursing Unit at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris-Bushville Rd. Harris, NY. The nurturing and caring staff was wonderful to Ruth in the final eight years of her life there.
