Obituary of Sol Winn
Sol Winn of Sackett Lake, NY, formally of New York City, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was 87 years young. Born on March 3, 1925 in NYC lower east side, Sol started his life in foster care, settling at the home of Morris Winofsky and Katie Stein with his sister Bella Winofsky Josephowitz.
Sol worked in the garment District as a traffic manager and was President of the Fort Washington Synagogue in Manhattan before moving permanently to Sackett in the late 1970's. Upon moving to Sackett Lake, Mr. Winn had a home gallery of Edna Hibel collectibles and was co-chairman of the Edna Hibel collectors' society.
One of Sol's greatest passions was the New York Yankees. Sol was present for the "61" home run and almost caught the ball. He was one of the Yanks oldest and greatest fans. Sol was also a huge supporter of the NYPD.
He was predeceased in life by his loving and devoted wife, Marilyn "Mariuch" Winn.
He is survived by his son, Arnie Winn, his daughter Brenda Winn, his daughter-in-laws, Susan Dubas Winn and Jeannette Garcia. Grandchildren: Jenna and Jake Winn; sister, Bella Josephowitz; niece, Gilda Glickler; nephews, Harvey Josephowitz, Bernard Schwartz and his loyal four-legged friend Lee.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10:00am at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello. Burial will follow in Beth Israel Memorial Park, Woodbridge, NJ. Rabbi Chanowitz will officiate.
