Ralph Rappaport, 84, of Woodridge, NY, died after a brief illness in Shady Grove Hospital, Rockville, MD, while visiting family in the area. He was a resident of Sullivan County since l950, living in Monticello, South Fallsburg, and Woodridge.
Born in the Bronx on May l, l924 to Max and Rose Kaufman Rappaport, he graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School and received his BA from the CCNY Bernard Baruch School of Business in l948.
He served in World War II as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Signal Corps. Ralph moved to Sullivan County in l950 to work for Simon and Kullback CPA firm in Monticello. He then moved to Woodridge to form a partnership with Bernard Ruderman, and later set up a private practice, which he maintained until his death.
During a career spanning over fifty years, he took great pride in serving numerous clients throughout Sullivan County and elsewhere with loyalty and dedication. Other activities include serving as president of the Mid-Hudson Chapter of the NYS Society of CPAs; Fallsburg Central High School District Board member for nine years; the Temple Sholom board, and Kiwanis Club. Ralph enjoyed a fine reputation, both professionally and personally, in all his endeavors. He will be remembered for his generous heart, deep concern for others, and highly principled approach to his work and his life, and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Rachel Sacks; daughters, Lynne and Jon Frank of San Francisco, CA, and Debby and Aaron Nagar of Potomac, MD; six grandchildren: Michele, Jesse, Yael and Daniela Nagar of Maryland, and Noah and Talia Frank of California; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the U.S., Canada and Israel, and many friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Edna (Ethel) Goldfeder of Albany in March.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to Temple Sholom in Monticello or any charity of one's choice.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, May l6, at 2 p.m. at Temple Sholom, Forestburgh Rd., Monticello. Burial will be in the Workman Circle #281 Cemetery, Glen Wild, NY.
