Text that is to appear on web must be entered after this line) BENJAMIN POSNER TAMARAC, FL AND SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY Benjamin Posner, the former owner of the Brickman Hotel in South Fallsburg, NY died on Sunday, June 29, 2008 in Boca Raton, Fl with his family by his side. He was 93. Ben and his brother Murray owned the hotel from 1937 until it was sold in 1988. Bens life truly spanned the history of the Catskills. Ben was born in New York, NY on October 18, 1914.The son of Joseph and Anna Brickman Posner, he grew up in South Fallsburg and lived there full time until 1986. After that, he spent his summers in Sullivan County and his winters in Tamarac, FL. Ben was a World War II Veteran and while serving in the Army, he was stationed in Europe and served as a translator and hotel manager in the Swiss Alps. During the late 1940s he headed a committee responsible for creating a program to evacuate NYC in case of an attack, which took 3 years and involved hundreds of volunteers. Ben was a member of the Fallsburg Fire Department, a charter member of the Fallsburg Lions Club, a member and Past Local Chapter President of the Bnai Brith, and was the Chairman of the Greens Committee for Tarry Brae Golf Course. From 1960-1977, he was a member of the Fallsburg School Board and for many years he was Vice President and President. In 1960 he followed in his fathers footsteps and joined the Board of Directors of Associated Mutual Insurance Cooperative, where he served as the President of the Board from 1970 to 2000, and remained active with the insurance company until his death. In addition, he sat on the Board for the Credit Union in Woodridge. He is survived by his daughter; Patricia Posner Daboosh and her husband Yossi of Boca Raton, Fl, his sister; Bebe Toor of Flexburg, Maine, his granddaughter; Jo Anna Rothman of Tarzana, Ca, and his companion; Beatrice Schwartz of Fl, and several nieces and nephews. Ben was predeceased by his wife, Rachel and his brother, Murray Posner. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11am in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway Monticello, NY, with Rabbi Yakov Barros officiating. Burial will be held in the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association Cemetery on Marsh Road in Glen Wild, NY. His family will be sitting Shiva at the Posner home in South Fallsburg, starting after Bens funeral service, until Friday. Funeral Arrangements are by the Joseph N.
