Max Kaplan passed peacefully Tuesday morning, August 19, 2008 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Bronxville, NY after spending several weeks in Sprain Brook Manor Rehabilitation facility recovering from acute anemia.
He was the son of Morris and Fanny Kaplan, born on December 6, 1917 in South Fallsburg, NY, and lived there until 1946. After marrying the love of his life, Lillian, they moved to the Bronx and in 1951 settled in Mount Vernon, NY where he was a self-employed refrigeration technician. During World War II, Max was a Major in the United States Army as an ordnance specialist.
Max is predeceased by his wife, Lillian; brothers, Carl Kaplan and Nathan Kaplan; sister-in-law, Beatrice Malman, and brothers-in-law, Paul Levine and Benjamin Levine. He is survived by his brother, Seymour Kaplan; nieces, Janice Malman, Sharon Chibnick, Judy Feder and Roberta Lovenheim; nephews, Stuart Levine and Gary Malman, and cousins Fran and Dan Ticnor. He also leaves behind several loving great nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, August 21 at 11 a.m. at South Fallsburg Hebrew Association Cemetery, Marsh Rd., Glen Wild. Burial will follow in the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association Cemetery in Glen Wild.
