Obituary of Shirley Feldberg

Shirley Feldberg, 85 Monticello, NY May 15, 1923 - January 19 ,2009 Shirley Feldberg of Monticello, a loyal and devoted wife and mother, died Monday, January 19, 2009 at Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty. She was 85. The daughter of the late David Karp and Edith Rosenthal Karp, she was born May 15,1923 in Newark, NJ. She was the widow of Theodore Feldberg who predeceased her on July 15, 2000. Besides helping in the family business as a bookkeeper for Monticello Cabinets, Shirley was a strong supporter and advocate of good education and served on the Monticello School Board. Active in local politics, she at one point ran for the office of Mayor. A member of Temple Sholom, Shirley also devoted decades to the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. She is survived by a son: Dr. Philip C. Feldberg & his wife Penny of Windsor, CT; a daughter: Ellen Beth Rundle & her husband Michael of Boiling Spring, PA; four grandchildren: Cindie, Samara, Ariana & Heather; seven great grandchildren; a sister: Frances Rosenberg of Monticello; and several nieces & nephews. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 20 at 3:00pm at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway in Monticello with Rabbi Michele Brand Medwin officiating. Interment will follow at the Temple Sholom Cemetery, Southwoods Drive in Monticello. Memorial contributions can be made to the Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts of America.
