Obituary of Ruth Gold

RUTH (RUTHIE) GOLD N. MIAMI BEACH, FL FORMERLY OF SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY Ruth Gold (Ruthie), former owner of Gold and Rados Cottages and Poultry Farm, in So. Fallsburg died suddenly on January 31, 2009 at her winter home in N. Miami Beach, Fl. Ruthie was born in Lodz, Poland on July 10, 1925, the daughter of Szmuel and Esther Baila Leizerowicz Domfort. She was a holocaust survivor, but lost her parents and six siblings during the war. Ruthie came to the United States in 1946 with her sister Gussie and brother-in-law Morris. She met her husband, Manny, soon after her arrival. Ruthie and Manny were married for 54 years, until his death in 2002. Ruthie, Manny, Gussie and Morris built their business and raised their families at the same So.Fallsburg address. The two families shared both the good and the bad and the children always said that they had two mothers and two fathers. A hard worker who would try her hand at anything, she excelled at the art of invisible re-weaving and loyal clients would come from far and wide to use her services. Ruthie also loved her games and was a keen canasta, mah jong, poker and kaluki player. Above all, Ruthie will be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was devoted to her family and extended circle of friends. She was a gracious host and always had room at her table and food in her pantry for an unexpected guest. A true character, Ruthie always managed to surprise with a comment or sincere gesture. Ruth will be missed by her two sons, Samuel and Angela, Steve and Helene and her daughter Esther; her grandchildren Bari and Barry (and great grandson Evan), Bryan, Haden, Griffin and Austin; her three nieces and their families, Barbara and Richard Sush (Matthew and Darren), Helen Rados and James Goldfarb (Eli and Joanna) and Sheila Haber and Steve Gordon (Jillian and Rebecca); cousins and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2008 at 10am in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, Inc., 388 Broadway Monticello. Rabbi Barros will be officiating. Burial will be made in the South Fallsburg Hebrew Assoc. Cemetery Marsh Road, Glen Wild. Shiva will be observed following services, in the home of Sheila Haber and Steve Gordon, 51 Little Pond Road, Hurleyville.
