Obituary of Allen Plotkin

Allen Plotkin, 93 Monticello, NY February 28, 1916 - March 6, 2009 Allen Plotkin, of Monticello, NY, passed away early Friday, March 6th, 2009 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris at the age of 93. He was born in Brooklyn to the late Adolph and Eva Herbert Plotkin, and was raised in Kauneonga Lake. He proudly and honorably served his country as a First Sergeant in World War II, at which time he created an efficient way of burying cable for the U.S. Army by inventing the "Cable Plow". He was a master craftsman and was known and respected for his exceptional abilities. Allen gave the best of himself to his loving family and will be forever missed. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Cecille Gotbaum Plotkin, his daughter Carol (Raymond) Petruskie, Son, Jerry (Joanne), four grandchildren, Eric Petruskie (Robyn), Lauren Plotkin, David Plotkin, Jerome E. Plotkin, two great-grandchildren, Logan Petruskie, and Rylee Petruskie, and his brother Cyril Plotkin. He is predeceased by a son, Mark (12/9/08) and two brothers, Norman and Jack. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 8 at 11am (EDT) at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway in Monticello. Burial will follow at the Cedar Park Cemetery in Emerson, NJ. Shiva will be held at the Plotkin home in Monticello. Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice in Allen's memory. Arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph N.
