Obituary of Abraham Edelman

Abraham Edelman, 84 Monticello, NY March 17, 1925 - April 13, 2009 Abraham Edelman of Monticello, a retired professional waiter in some of New York City's finest restaurants, died Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 84. The son of the late Morris Edelman and Rebecca Oplatka Edelman he was born March 17, 1925 in Israel. Abe had a heart as big as life. His greatest joy was in helping and giving to others in order to make their lives a little easier. He wanted nothing in return. He enjoyed spending time in the library, shopping and people watching. Recently his greatest joy was spending time with his new family and enjoying his "grandchildren". He doted on them and they loved him dearly. He is survived by two sisters-in-law: Sylvia Edelman of Long Island and Marion Edelman of Elizabeth, NJ; and his adopted family: Thomas & Debra Larsen of Monticello; Heather, Burt, Tremper, Austin and Adelaide Dymond of Thompsonville; Michael, Jolene and Amanda Larsen of Warwick; Jonathan and Aidan Burgess of Buffalo and Amaya Burgess of Cochecton; and Thomas Jr., Danielle & Devin Larsen of Clearwater, FL. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: Isaac & Meyer Edelman. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 16 at 11:00am at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral home, 388 Broadway in Monticello with Rabbi Michelle Medwin officiating. Burial will follow at the Temple Sholom Cemetery on Southwoods Drive in Monticello.
