Pauline Altbach, a home maker and long time resident of Liberty and Sullivan County, died on Monday, August 3, 2009. She was 85.
The daughter of the late Julius Sabloff and Brina Moritz Sabloff, Pauline was born on October 6, 1923 in New York, NY. She was a member of the Congregation Ahavath Israel Synagogue, The Sisterhood, and Liberty Hadassah. Prior to her migration with her husband to Sullivan County in 1946, she was employed by the War Department in New York City.
She is survived by her beloved sons, Jeffrey Altbach, of Liberty, Jerrold Altbach, of Glenview, IL; grandsons, Jamison Altbach, Bradley Altbach,; granddaughters, Rachel Nightingale, Lisa Altbach; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was predeceased by her beloved husband, Solomon Altbach in 1990, and her beloved son, Richard Altbach in 2003. She was also predeceased by her 4 brothers--- Benjamin Sabloff, Phillip Sabloff, Reuben Sabloff, and Joseph Sabloff, and her sister, Sally Friend.
A special thank you is extended to the nurses and staff at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center for their longstanding assistance, care, and concern. A special tribute is also extended to the late Dr. J. Arthur Reisenberg.
Funeral services will be held, on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 11:00am, at the Ahavath Israel Synagogue, 39 Chestnut Street, Liberty, NY, with Rabbi Marvin Goldman officiating. Burial will follow in the Ahavath Israel Cemetery on Hysanna Road, in Liberty.
Memorial contributions in Pauline's name may be made to the Congregation Ahavath Israel Synagogue.
