Obituary of Sunny Samuels

Sunny Samuels of Loch Sheldrake, a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at home. She was 80. The daughter of the late Murray and Mollie Katz, she was born March 12, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY. Mrs. Samuels was a dynamic member and past President of the Loch Sheldrake Senior Club and active in the Home Owner's Association of Foxcroft Village. She was awarded a Certificate of Merit as the Fallsburg Senior of the Year by the Sullivan County RSVP. She was also a volunteer at the Fallsburg Library. Sunny had a flair for interior design, and loved to paint and to write poetry. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Lester Samuels. She is survived by her two sons, Larry Samuels and his wife Peggy, of Chestertown, MD, & Steve Samuels and his wife Linda, of Croton-on-Hudson; her daughter, Caren S. Jacques and her husband Peter, of Livingston Manor; six grandchildren, Kathryn, Elizabeth, Allison, Cassie, Paul, and Rebecca; her sisters, Judy Katz, Sue Ludsky and her husband Charles; and her brother, Jerry Katz and his wife Lenore. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, September 6, at 1:00pm at the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty. Shiva will be observed at the family residence on Sunday only, following the interment.
