Michael,
I send my sincerest condolences to you and your family at this sad time. I have very fond memories of both your Mom and your Dad, as I sat under their tutelage and remember them well. It seems that your Mom and my mother were about the same age, as my mother past away at 98 years old on February 1, 2010.
Hope to see you at the "All-classes" Reunion at the High School in Ellenville this August 21, 2010.
Fondly,
Dagmar

I remember her husband's devotion to Mrs. K. and his pet name for her. In the 50's they wore matching winter coats that we students thought were very stylish.

I will miss her. A fine teacher, and a warm, kind soul. She introduced us to grammar, to writing, to poetry -- and did it well. A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to tell Dutchie how much her work abided with me, and I am glad that I did. I remember her playing a recording of Frost reading his work. And her amusement at our reaction to his voice. My deepest sympathies to Michael and Gerald. Like all fine teachers of children she was our mother too.

I have fond memeories of both Mr. and Mrs. K - seems like many English classes we took with Mrs. K - she must have done something right because writing is a major part of my work these days. In more recent times, she was always so happy to see me (and I her) when we would meet at some Miller celebration in Florida. And a funny memory - her sharing with us how, though she and her husband had known each other for many years (do I remember correctly that they met in high school?), they never ran out of things to talk about- a bit to her surprise. (why do these things stay with us)?

Both my mother and father, Florence and Louis Newmark, taught in the Ellenville school system and were friendly with both Dora and Morris. I also had been in some classes with their sons. My mother had attended a number of social engagements where Dora was present. My thoughts and memories are with the family at this time.
