While I was visiting my parents in Monticello during Passover, we were all upset to hear of Dr. Gavis's passing. You can count our family among those who are grateful and indebted to Dr. Gavis. He was that special kind of doctor who knew when to send a patient for additional consultations when he saw that further help was needed beyond what he could do. I was another one of those patients that he sent on to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He told my mother "don't run - but go fast" - otherwise, I might not be alive today. I had painted a small painting that he hung in his waiting room for many years - it always made me feel very special that he kept that painting on his wall. After reading his obituary, I feel especially lucky to have been associated with him, and helped by him over 37 years ago. May his memory be for a blessing.

I remember always loving to go see Dr. Gavis. When he became an allergist that was even better because I was so glad that I could still use him as a doctor no matter my age. He was always so nice and cheerful. Even today when I visit Monticello I always look at the doctor's office remembering how much I loved Dr Gavis. RIP and thank you for being there for me.

Dr. Gavis took care of my siblings and myself for years, he even made house calls. He was a kind and caring man, gentle and always took the time to talk to all. Rest in Peace.
