Obituary of Harriet Steinkol

Harriet Steinkol, 91 Ellenville, NY July 13, 1919 - January 21, 2011 Harriet Konsens Steinkol was born in the Bronx, New York on July 13, 1919. She met her husband, Louis Steinkol, while on vacation at the Nevele Hotel, in the Catskills. They were married in 1948 and moved to Ellenville, New York where they resided for almost 60 years. Louis was a farmer and Harriet helped him on the farm and also delivered eggs to customers on her egg route. She was employed as a bookkeeper for the Village of Ellenville and Duso Frozen Foods. Harriet and Louis had two daughters; Ava Steinkol Roeder (Michael) and Ilene Safron Whitesman (Guy), from Ft. Myers, Florida. Harriet loved her family dearly. She would host family gatherings on the farm throughout the years inviting friends and relatives from NYC up to the country to share the fresh air of the surrounding mountains. Dedicated to her husband of 61 years, her children and three grandchildren; Alison Roeder, Joey Whitesman and Jena Whitesman she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Harriet loved to knit and enjoyed meeting with her Ellenville community friends. She loved to laugh and found a humorous side to all situations. She was a special little lady with a strong will and ambitious plans. She will be really missed, but her warm knitted sweaters, hats and scarves, and the memories of her warm heart, will always live on. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11a.m. at the Cong. Anshe Tzaydik Syn., Canal Street in Ellenville, NY 12483. Burial will follow at the Anshe Tzaydik Cemetery, located off of Route 209 in Wawarsing, NY. Rabbi Moshe Frank will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph N.
